Intercessions at 10am service

We now have two prayer lists for our public intercessions.  There will be a shorter one for people in particularly acute need at the moment, and a longer one for those at home, in care or with long term conditions.  Please do not be concerned if you do not see your loved one’s name appear every week in the notices – we are still praying and they have not been forgotten! We will pray for those with longer term needs on the last Sunday of the month (this will next be on February 22.)  The anniversaries of those who have died will be remembered as normal.  The Pastoral Care team welcome updates.

The flowers in church today have kindly been given by Andrew Patterson in memory of his dear mother Margaret Fordyce, who was a longstanding and faithful member of our online service community.

Our new Safeguarding Officer is Anne Cowan and her contact details are at the back of this booklet. We give thanks for Anne Tarassenko’s over 10 years of service in this important role.

World Day of Prayer Friday 6 March

This  day (formerly Women’s World Day of Prayer) has been celebrated annually for nearly one hundred years, and is now observed in nearly every country of the world. A service is written by a different country each year, so as the earth spins, the same prayers are said over 24 hours by thousands of people around the globe. More details at wwdp.org.uk This year the Headington service, which has been written by the women of Nigeria, will be held at Holy Trinity at 11am, followed by a shared light lunch. If you are able, please come.
The service is led by many readers, and we will need people to help with hospitality – welcoming, setting out lunch, and clearing away. If you are able to help in any of these ways, please contact me. Joan Jones 07710611250 joan@joneses.org.uk

This week’s Eco Tip

With Ash Wednesday just days away, it’s time to think of Lent vows. Remembering the three Rs of Lent: Reflection, Repentance, Reconciliation, can you think of suitable vows? A fast focused on justice, compassion, and liberation?
Giving food to the homeless? Pledging to care for Creation?  Enhancing our surroundings with daily litter picks? Whatever…   Hilary Rollin, Eco Church Group
