Genesis sermon series
From next Sunday, up till 2nd of August, we are going to working our way through the lectionary selections from the book of Genesis. Alongside our readings from one of the four Gospels, we will take in the stories of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah and Rachel. The aim is always to discover the gospel of Christ within these amazing Old Testament stories, and our range of preaching voices will bring this out. We hope you enjoy engaging with this, and would love to hear your feedback – Revd Martin.

This Christian Aid Week we raised a grand total of about £2,150 once Gift Aid is added, more than we have taken since 2019 when we last collected door to door. Thank you to everyone who donated money, gave items for the Spring Tea and to everyone who helped or came along. The money will go to help poor families in Kenya grow food in urban environments.
On 6th June all the proceeds from Collinwood Road URC Community Breakfast will be given to Christian Aid. From 9.30 to 11am for just £6 you can enjoy a full English breakfast plus unlimited tea, coffee, orange juice and toast.

Church ‘spring’ clean
We are planning a church ‘spring’ clean on Saturday 20th June at 10am. It will be an opportunity to do the things that we don’t have time to do each week like cleaning out the kitchen cupboards, fridge and walk in cupboard, as well as getting rid of the high cobwebs with our new extendable duster. If you can help please let Janet Masters know on kandj.masters@googlemail.com.
This week’s Eco Tip
World Environment Day (WED), established in 1972 by the United Nations, and celebrated on May 5 every year since 1973, takes place this Friday. This year’s theme is: “Ending Plastic Pollution”, aligning with ongoing international commitments to reduce plastic consumption, improve recycling systems, and promote sustainable alternatives. With a friend, work out what action you can each take, then meet to discuss how it went. Your ideas? Go re-fillable? Eat less meat? Do your own litter pick? Buy only what you need?
