Forest Sunday School is on its summer break. Children are invited to stay in the service, or families may use the Meeting Room if a break-out space would be helpful. Thank you to Felicity, Andrea our leaders, all our helpers and our brilliant children! 6th September is a special All-Age service, and Forest Sunday School returns on 13th September.
Midweek Services
9am Morning Prayer: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when the Vicar is available. The Church is normally open for private prayer every day during daylight hours.
Wednesday 10am Midweek Communion
No 8am service during August – We have made the decision to pause this service over the month of August. The Wednesday 10am Communion provides an alternative quieter service in the week. If regulars would like a Book of Common Prayer service during this time, there is a weekly 8am BCP at St Andrew’s, Headington.
The Vicar Revd Martin is on annual leave from Monday August 10th to Monday August 24th.

Violin Concert on Thursday 20th August @ 7pm by the young talented violinist Skye El- Shirbiny. Skye gave a concert for us last year which was very much enjoyed. The programme will include Bach Partitia no 2 in D minor and other ballads and folk songs by various artists. Skye is a local girl who has offered to give these performances for us as well as studying in the Royal College of Music. Tickets are £10 and there is a QR code on a poster in church or payment can be accepted on the door. There will be a break in the concert for light refreshments. Please put this date in your diary and be assured of a lovely evening supporting both Skye and the church.

Building Firm Foundations Appeal 2026
As you may know, we launched an appeal in June to raise £100,000 by the end of 2026 towards our building loan and to repair our leaking roof. Thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated and/or pledged already. We are making great strides towards our target, but we aren’t quite there yet. It’s not too late to contribute or to pledge: the forms are at the back of church, and you can hand your form to the vicar, a churchwarden or any other church official. So please consider giving if you haven’t done so already.

This has now stopped to make space for new initiatives. Thanks to those who have supported it over the past couple of years.

‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ on the climate and nature crisis is being screened at Brookes University on Weds. October 7th, 6.00-8.00. Entry is free, all are welcome. 21-22 November ‘Imagine Lewis’: A Celebration of Spirituality and the Arts inspired by the legacy of C.S. Lewis.
Please save the dates! We are delighted to have the internationally-acclaimed poet Malcolm Guite giving a talk and reading, as well as U.S. folk-rock band WIND performing live. If you would like to be involved in this weekend, please speak to Revd Martin and come to a planning meeting on Thursday 27 August at 7.30pm in the church meeting room.

This week’s Eco Tip
Make the most of being out of doors in a park or field, alongside a river, on a mountain-top, or on the beach. Look around you. Children will love getting messy looking for bugs. The not-soyoung can sit on a bench, watch the world go by, take delight in the glory of Creation.
