Forest Sunday School is on its summer break. Children are invited to stay in the service, or families may use the Meeting Room if a break-out space would be helpful. Thank you to Felicity, Andrea our leaders, all our helpers and our brilliant children! 6th September is a special All-Age service, and Forest Sunday School returns on 13th September.
Midweek Services
9am Morning Prayer: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when the Vicar is available. The Church is normally open for private prayer every day during daylight hours.
Wednesday 10am Midweek Communion
No 8am service during August – We have made the decision to pause this service over the month of August. The Wednesday 10am Communion provides an alternative quieter service in the week. If regulars would like a Book of Common Prayer service during this time, there is a weekly 8am BCP at St Andrew’s, Headington.
Julian Group
The September meeting will be on Friday 4th September at 2.30 pm at 6 Quarry Hollow, Headington Quarry. We meditate for half an hour on a passage provided by one of us and then discuss it before having a social time with tea/coffee and biscuits. New members are very welcome. Justyna Zanko Solo Violin Concert, Thu 24 September, 7pm
Following her dazzling recital last year, Polish violin virtuoso Justyna is returning to HTHQ. She will be performing J.S. Bach’s Partita in D minor BWV 1004, and Prokofiev’s Sonata for Solo Violin in D major, Op. 115. £10 suggested donation on the door, split between the performer and the church. Includes soft drinks after the performance.
‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ a film on the climate and nature crisis is being screened at Brookes University on Weds. October 7th, 6.00-8.00. Entry is free, all are welcome. A discussion will follow the film. To book, use the QR code on posters in church, the Coach house and on the HTHQ notice board, and also on fliers available from Hilary Rollin.
Wheatley Windmill Walk
The walk over Shotover to visit Wheatley Windmill, postponed due to excessive heat, will now take place on Sunday 11 October, leaving The Plain at 12.15. Numbers are limited; to book a place, contact Hilary Rollin after the service or on 01865 761545.

This week’s Eco Tip
Having started August with an Eco Tip about plastics, here is a reminder about single-use plastics. Look in your fridge, larder, freezer, and see what single-use plastics are lurking there. Use up what is in the plastic containers, but identify two products that you might in future avoid buying in plastic bottles/ punnets/ shrink wrap.
