This will be a fun and interesting event, with refreshments, including Thai street food, activities for children, a chance to meet people from local environmental groups, bike repairs, and a schedule of interesting talks by local people, including our own Karl and Hilary. Conversation in aid of The Archway Foundation
Archway is a local charity working to help create human connection and reduce isolation in Oxfordshire. On Wednesday 23rd September Prof. Lord (Lionel) Tarassenko will be in conversation with Archway’s CEO, Angelo Fernandes, at Reuben College, Parks Road, OX1 3QP, from 7-9pm; they will be discussing how best to navigate simple human connection in an increasingly AI-driven age. Tickets are £10 (available from www.archwayfoundation.org.uk) and all proceeds will go towards Archway’s work in building human connections in our local communities. Please come if you can, to support this worthy cause; all are welcome.
Justyna Zanko Solo Violin Concert, Thu 24 September, 7pm
Following her dazzling recital last year, Polish violin virtuoso Justyna is returning to HTHQ. She will be performing J.S. Bach’s Partita in D minor BWV 1004, and Prokofiev’s Sonata for Solo Violin in D major, Op. 115. £10 suggested donation on the door, split between the performer and the church. Includes soft drinks after the performance.
‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ a film on the climate and nature crisis is being screened at Brookes University on Weds. October 7th, 6.00-8.00. Entry is free, all are welcome. Wheatley Windmill Walk
The walk over Shotover to visit Wheatley Windmill, postponed due to excessive heat, will now take place on Sunday 11 October, leaving The Plain at 12.15. Numbers are limited; to book a place, contact Hilary Rollin after the service or on 01865 761545.

Are you, without knowing it, using phantom energy, also known as standby power, and maybe without actually knowing what phantom power drain is? It is the ‘invisible drain of electricity’ if we neglect to turn off and unplug appliances and devices when not in use. Hidden usage is said to amount to 5%-10% of home energy use.
