9am Morning Prayer: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when the Vicar is available. The Church is normally open for private prayer every day during daylight hours.

Final 8am service
The weekly 8am Book of Common Prayer Communion service has been under review for several months now, in the light of low attendance and shortage of available clergy. After much discussion and reflection, the decision was made by the PCC last week that this service will come to an end. Regular attendees were informed last week. This decision is taken with some sadness; however our hope is that between the 10am service, the quieter Wednesday Communion as well as a regular monthly evening service, we provide a good range of worship options. Moreover, we also hope that increased capacity will enable new and different forms of worship to emerge. There will be a final 8am service on Sunday 11th October to give thanks for all it has meant to us, and to look to the future.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
We raised £181 for this important charity. Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously. I shall send the money to Macmillan on Monday 5th October, as from experience in previous years I know that people often wish to donate even on the second Sunday after the day itself. Sheila Allcock
‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ a film on the climate and nature crisis is being screened at Brookes University on Weds. October 7th, 6.00-8.00. Entry is free, all are welcome. Wheatley Windmill visit on October 11th
We now have a waiting list; It is worth signing up to this as even if we exceed the number of places allocated to us for climbing up the windmill, numbers for the walk are not limited. We shall leave Shotover Plain (the car park) at 12.15; bring your picnic lunch and water bottle. NB No stilettos, mules or flip flops allowed up the windmill ladder! Emergency First Aid training
Headington Baptist Church is hosting an Emergency First Aid Training on Saturday 17th October, 10am-2pm. Cost: £30 per person.The training includes dealing with a casualty, an unconscious casualty and possible causes, the recovery position, CPR, defibrillator use and understanding, choking and minor injuries. Weekend Retreat
There are just two places left on a weekend retreat at the Old Parsonage Freeland led by our own Revd Rob Gilbert on 16th-18th October. The retreat will explore the meanings to be found in the human appreciation of beauty in nature and in the sciences, and what our words about wonder might be reflecting of the Word of God. Imagine Lewis Quotations needed!
As part of Imagine Lewis, Mandy Patterson is leading an Art and Worship workshop in the church from 10-12am on Saturday 21 November. This will be a drop in event but it will be designed for you to set aside time to create and contemplate. Mandy is compiling an album of Lewis quotations, scans of paintings and drawings and poetry that we can all contribute to. If you have never done anything like this before do feel free to come. There will be materials provided and space to just mess about and enjoy the company of God in quietness.

Imagine Lewis helpers needed!
We have an excellent team that are spearheading our Imagine Lewis weekend, but we have need of a few extra helpers, specifically: to take posters around to community noticeboards, to assist with children’s activities, and to help man the bar for the Saturday evening gig. This week’s Eco Tip
On the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, in the Year of Saint Francis, this being the 800th anniversary of his death, we focus on his legacy. Best known for his love of animals and Nature, he was to become the Patron Saint of Animals and Ecology. He founded the Franciscan Order, having shunned the wealth into which he was born, in favour of a humble existence. Can we follow his example and lead a more simple life.
