APCM

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting is coming up this Wednesday 13 May at 7.30pm in church. This APCM for our parish gives us the chance to review the past year, look ahead to the year to come, and elect the people who will take part in the making of decisions on parish matters. This year, there are two vacancies for Churchwardens, three vacancies for elected PCC representatives, and three vacancies for Deanery Synod representatives (nomination forms are available on the diocesan website or by emailing holytrinityhqpcc@gmail.com). Everyone is welcome to attend so please put this date in your diary.

New filter Coffee and Tea

If you are able to it would help the church funds if you could donate to the refreshment fund each week by either putting money in the jar or by using the card machine. Thank you.

Risinghurst and Sandhills Community Fete Sunday 7th June 1.30-6pm

It would be so good to have a presence at this Community fete since it is in our parish. I am looking for someone, or a group to organise a stall  predominately for children , with a few games , colouring , crafts anything that interest a child. It will promote our church and maybe encourage people to come along and see what we are about. I have tried many times to get a stall there, so maybe this is the year. Martin will hopefully be entertaining us at some time that afternoon. There are lots of other stalls, a magic show for children, other entertainment and the much looked forward to races for kids and Tug of War for adults. It is a real community event and I would encourage us to get involved as part of the parish.

Learn a new skill and save our wall!

The old stone wall that runs along the Quarry Road path to the church is in need of repair and repointing.  Paying a contractor to do this is expensive, so I (Revd Martin) thought, in a moment of pragmatic whimsy, whether anyone in our church family might like to learn how to do it?  Then I discovered that Friends of Quarry are running a Stone Repair Training Weekend on 12-13th June!  If anyone would like to attend this with a view to repairing our wall, the PCC will happily pay your course fee! The cost, to include tuition, materials and use of tools will be £50 per person. If you are interested, please get in touch with Lawrence Kelly on 07767 884642.

This week’s Eco Tip

Worried about water shortage and/or soaring water/electricity bills? A self-powered digital shower flow meter (no batteries) can put paid to domestic debates about the use of the shower. Once plumbed into the shower (no tools needed!), it gives feedback with colour-coded LED lighting that alerts one to total litres used, flow rate, and water temperature. The aim is to finish showering before the display changes colour to indicate excessive use. Hilary Rollin (Eco Church Group)
