Readers and Intercessors at 10am Sunday Eucharist : Group meeting on Wednesday 30 September: in church 7.30 p.m. – please sign up
The first ‘training’ session for aspiring, new and established readers and intercessors will take place on Wednesday 30 September. There will be a parallel afternoon session on a date yet to be decided.
Please sign the list at the back of church to confirm that you would like to attend.
This time, we’ll be covering some general points and also using three short Bible passages to focus our discussion. I’ll send you the passages in advance.

Weekend Retreat
There are just two places left on a weekend retreat at the Old Parsonage Freeland led by our own Revd Rob Gilbert on 16th-18th October. The retreat will explore the meanings to be found in the human appreciation of beauty in nature and in the sciences, and what our words about wonder might be reflecting of the Word of God.

‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ a film on the climate and nature crisis is being screened at Brookes University on Weds. October 7th, 6.00-8.00. Entry is free, all are welcome. Pilgrimage for the Planet
We would be delighted if you would join us for a pilgrimage walk around an area of Oxford to pray for our planet.
It starts outside Blackfriars Church in St. Giles, at 11am on 4th October stopping to pray outside Barclays Bank, the Catholic Chaplaincy, Christchurch Cathedral, Riverside near Folly Bridge, Edgar George Wilson Memorial, Osney Lock Hydro and finishing at St. Frideswide church at about 2.30pm.

Wheatley Windmill visit on October 11th
We now have a waiting list; It is worth signing up to this as even if we exceed the number of places allocated to us for climbing up the windmill, numbers for the walk are not limited. We shall leave Shotover Plain (the car park) at 12.15; bring your picnic lunch and water bottle. NB No stilettos, mules or flip flops allowed up the windmill ladder! This week’s Eco Tip
As we near the end of the Season of Creation what better time could there be to take stock and consider plans for our garden/ outdoor pot plants/ allotment for next year, bearing in mind the changing climate. Some ideas: mulch the soil to retain water, create a wildlife-friendly environment to encourage birds and pollinators, instal additional water butts, plant drought-resistant species?
